Safety Tips for Cycling #4

As most of our previous clients know, safety has an extremely important emphasis on our rides in the daily pre-ride briefing, evening briefing and most other occasions where Phil addresses the group. Here is one of a series of safety tips from Phil.

When riding on a footpath beware of hazards.
This is an especially important tip to teach kids as they learn to ride on the footpath. Often you will have cars backing out of driveways, pedestrians stepping out of gates, other cyclists or people walking around a blind corner or coming out of a doorway. Keep a wide berth wherever possible giving you as much time as possible to react to anything crossing your path. Also take corners as wide as possible just in case someone is coming the other way.
