Day 9. It’s our last full day in Germany today. To be honest we won’t miss the German bike paths too much, some of them are pretty bumpy but at least they’re lucky enough to have a good network of paths. Anything under 100kms is starting to feel like we’re slacking off for the day because when the winds are kind we can really scoot along on these flat roads so today’s 92km breezes past easily – it’s amazing how much easier the kilometres pass on a cycling holiday as opposed to training rides at home!
The riding really is beautiful and the towns along the way provide plenty of opportunities for coffee and some delicious pastries and cakes. We all know you don’t come on a bike tour to lose weight! It was all quiet when we got to Cloppenburg as it’s Saturday afternoon so pre dinner drinks at the hotel bar was the activity of choice for most, followed by a lovely buffet dinner. The food everywhere has been plentiful and delicious.
Tomorrow we make our second border crossing.
