Safety Tips for Cycling #2

As most of our previous clients know, safety has an extremely important emphasis on our rides in the daily pre-ride briefing, evening briefing and most other occasions where Phil addresses the group. Here is one of a series of safety tips from Phil.
Cross tram lines at right angles (especially when wet/raining)
Over the years living in Melbourne we have seen and heard of so many cyclists getting thrown off their bikes on tram lines because of crossing them at too fine an angle. Try to get as close to 90 degrees as possible so you are approaching the lines directly from the side. If you approach from a more parallel angle your wheel can not only slip on the wet tram line, but can also fall into the groove of the tram line, stop suddenly and buck you off.
