Phil and Susan McDonald have owned and managed AllTrails Bicycle Tours for over 12 years. They are both long time cycling enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their passion with others. Phil and Susan started AllTrails after doing a number of organised bike rides themselves. They realised that there are lots of cyclists who love being able to combine long distance cycling with a real holiday spirit.
AllTrails tours started with one and two day medium distance tours in Victoria. They have now expanded and include a range of long distance cycling tours Australia wide.
Phil is the tour leader and an experienced long distance rider. He has cycled the entire Australian coastline and he rode in the first Simpson Desert Bicycle Challenge in 1987, finishing 3rd at the Birdsville Pub.
Susan is the backbone of the AllTrails team and ensures that everything runs smoothly throughout the trip. Phil and Susan are both involved in the day to day aspects of the tours, so the organisational details are continually monitored and adjusted when necessary. As a result, you are guaranteed personalised service and high standards.
Phil also has an interest in antique bicycles. After restoring an original penny farthing and mastering the tricky riding technique, he rode the 800km from Adelaide to Melbourne in just 4 1/2 days. He also gained an entry in the Guinness Book of Records in 1986 when he rode 512 km, the longest distance covered on a penny farthing in 24 hours.
AllTrails now in their 12th year, are thrilled to announce their association with the MS Australia , joining us on our cycle tours from city to city around Australia, to promote participation in our events while raising funds for charity.
AllTrails cycle tours have also raised funds for charities such as the Fred Hollows Foundation, raising a massive $170,000 for this great Australian Charity.
Phil's 15,000 km trip around the coast of mainland Australia and Tasmania in 1988 raised over $100,000 for Rotary, and at the same time achieved another entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
